How to Properly Lock Your Windows

Some residents have been having a hard time knowing if the windows are properly locked.  Here is a guide to know how to properly lock them.  Our building's windows are designed as such a properly locked window cannot be opened without damage.

1.  Make sure the top of the top window is properly hooked:

CORRECT!  Notice how the latch is hooked into the slot.

WARNING!  Notice how the latch is NOT hooked into the slot.

2.  Make sure the middle latch is properly hooked:
CORRECT!  Notice how the closed black latch is below the upper window's lip.
WARNING!  Notice how the closed black latch is NOT below the upper window's lip.

 3. (Recommended) Use the 4-inch Guards:
4-inch guard closed to allow bottom window to slide open all the the way.
4-inch guard open to allow for the bottom window to open 4 inches.
Using the 4-inch guards does not protect against a savvy someone coming in the back window when you are away, but will protect against immediate entry, and against your child falling out a window.
